Still on cloud 9 from Friday’s Woman Volunteer of the Year Award luncheon organized by the Junior League of Boca Raton. I can’t thank the Boca Raton Historical Society enough for choosing me as their nominee. I am firm believer in the importance of giving back, both personally and through Protect My Shoes.
Standing on that stage with 42 other nominees representing wonderful local nonprofits still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. It was also fabulous to share this day with several friends who were also nominated. And, speaking of friends, congratulations to Terry Fedele for bringing home the award.
As a mom raising two boys in Boca Raton, it’s a gift to be able to share with them the importance of giving back to our community just as my mom instilled in me. During our time living in Bangkok, my mom founded the International Support Group Foundation, a charity that is still going strong 37 years later. Very much like the Junior League, its members are a group of determined, passionate and inspiring women, creating a sisterhood founded on volunteerism. Getting to share the moment with my mom, Micheline, made it extra special.
Cheers to spreading kindness and helping others in any way possible. There is no such thing as a small gesture. Every bit counts and makes our world a better place.
With a grateful heart,
Olivia
