Behind the lens, Victoria Angela captures once-in-a-lifetime moments and she does it with a unique sense of style, combining timeless sophistication with a touch of fun. Victoria is the quintessential girl boss. She is so passionate about her work as a photographer that she pretty much refuses to call it 'work' or a 'job' ~ "It’s funny because I don’t feel like I have worked a day in my life. What I do is a lifestyle and a passion." We briefly met Victoria at an event in Miami a few weeks ago, but her passion and fashion made us want to get to know her beyond the cocktail party.
What is your favorite quote or life motto?
“Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after having an experience with you becomes your trademark.”
You have become a well known and highly sought after photographer. How did you start your career and has photography always been a passion?
Photography has always been a part of my life and it really is a lifestyle for me than it is a career. I grew up in a family owned business environment and photographed my first wedding (solo!) at the age of 14 with 35mm film camera.
You specialize in weddings, but do you photograph other events as well?
I am drawn to the challenge and the creative outlet that weddings allow me to express. However, our company is event focused, so corporate and social are two other types of events we document.
Is there a new trend in wedding photography?
I have been in the industry so long that I have seen trends come and go...and then some come back again. One thing that I'm sure of is that timeless trumps trendy. That applies to our edits or our "signature style". Our goal is for you to look at an image and not be able to tell what year it was captured. The consistency is what attracts our clients to us.
What is it that you love most about what you do?
This list is forever long. One of the top reasons is that this industry is always evolving- from the technology to the client. It keeps me on my toes (while wearing fabulous shoes, of course) and allows me to never have a repeat day at "the office".
Now let’s talk fashion… how would you describe your overall style if it had to be categorized?
Classic with a bit of edge. One could say that those two do not go together, but I think I have made it work. I love to pair a classic black dress with large, colorful statement earrings, unique handbag or a pop of color in the shoes.
What’s your go-to outfit when you’re pressed for time?
When I am in a hurry or feel like I have nothing to wear: Jeans, Heels (Loubs or Valentino Rockstuds) and a Blazer. You cannot go wrong with a classic Chanel or edgy Balmain.
What’s your fashion/beauty indulgence?
Perfume and skincare. I have too much that I cannot use in my lifetime and yet I cannot stop indulging. Luckily I found a skin care line that I have been loyal to for the past 5 years and that is Sisley-Paris. My favorite scents are from Tom Ford (I can share the same scents with my husband!), Guerlain, Creed and Bond.
Which shoe designer/brand do you love most?
Do I have to pick one? My favorite shoes are conversation pieces. I will usually go for fashion over function. Dolce & Gabbana has been a long time favorite and Kat Maconie is one of my newly found obsessions.
What’s your favorite shoe style?
Heels- from kitten heels to booties for the winter.
What is it that you like about the line of products by Protect My Shoes?
I am obsessed with different prints and the functionality of the product. During my travels, Protect My Shoes keep my shoes “safe”... they are preserved and protected.
What is your dream travel destination?
It seems that every time I dream to travel somewhere, I work on making it happen. My next travel adventure, or dream come true, is going to be a month in Japan.
When you’re not working, how do you spend your time?
It’s funny because I don’t feel like I have worked a day in my life. What I do is a lifestyle and a passion. When I’m not taking pictures, you will find me binge watching Netflix, enjoying a day at the spa or getting my adrenaline fix at a sample sale. My husband and I love to try different places to eat and stroll around with our fur-children. We have two Teacup Yorkies- Oscar de la Renta and Hermes Edward (Oscar and Harry for short!).
What inspires you?
Without a doubt, fashion and cultural experiences.
